A white ceramic nativity set . . . it’s my favorite Christmas decoration. I set it up early in Advent and enjoy it right through Epiphany.
You see this lovely set belonged to a favorite aunt. When she died, it was the only thing that I requested from her home. I feel so blessed to still enjoy it each year.
But last year was a near disaster. I lifted the box down out of the closet. It was heavier than I remembered and I dropped it. As it crashed to the floor I could hear the sounds of breaking glass. I was irritated with myself and truly distressed about the set. Whatever could I do?
It was then that the father of our household walked in. He picked up the broken pieces and calmly said, “It’s OK, I can fix it.” (And with barely a glued line showing, he did.)
I think of that as I try to prepare myself for Christmas. Yes, I am broken by my weaknesses, shortcomings and failures. Whatever can I do?
And then the wise Father of all mankind picks me up and I hear Him say, “It’s OK, I can fix it.” He forgives me, and once again I am whole.
He forgives because He loves me and He loves YOU, unconditionally.

“But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.” 1 John 1:9
