A friend, after her recent move, spoke about downsizing and the result being able to, “get rid of things.” She parted with her wedding gown, shedding a few tears, but knowing it would be treasured by someone else and hopefully bring them joy.
I started to sort through boxes in our garage and created three piles. One was the “I can’t part with this” pile, one was the “toss it in the garbage pile,” and the last was the “SHARE” pile. Busy busy busy, I found the chore easy UNTIL…. I reached several boxes belonging to my mother. My mother has been gone from earth for nine years, but truthfully there was nothing of hers going to the “garbage pile.” Many items were in the “I can’t part with this,” pile, but surprisingly to me, her collection of angels had me stymied. Upon her death, family members including myself kept a few angels that touched our hearts. Swaying thoughts rolled around in my mind. Leaving the sorting in the garage I separated myself from the task. Thinking back to my friend’s story about her wedding gown, the Holy Spirit stirred within my rolling thoughts and swayed my mind. It was made clear to me, that precious angels tucked away in a box would not bring joy to anyone, but SHARING them would. Back to the task at hand, my dear mother’s angels are in the SHARE pile and headed to the church rummage sale. I just know God will deliver them into the right heart and hands.
Go ahead, Share, it’s ok! The Lord loves us unconditionally. The Lord loves a cheerful giver!
