Do you remember the musical Annie, the film version with Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, and Tim Curry? So well done, and there are many versions of this film and of course, stage productions as well. In the scene, where the envelope is opened and they burst into their rendition of EASY STREET, the stage becomes electric with enthusiasm and their antics of happiness.
I do believe that the Bible very succinctly lays out the path to our salvation, kinda’ like Easy Street.
In John 14:6, Jesus was talking to Thomas and said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” If we make it simple, follow His ways, have faith, trusting in our Lord, praising Him for His sacrifice for our sins, we are kinda’ riding on Easy Street.
There are many believers who stop there and then get stuck because LIFE happens and it isn’t always Easy Street. Our trip down Easy Street may not always be “pothole” free, but God, who loves us unconditionally, will be with us, never forsaking us. Jesus directs us to have faith like a child, keep it simple.
As Annie sings, “…. When I’m stuck with a day that’s grey and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say Oh! The sun’ll come out Tomorrow.”
Put out your chin, study God’s Holy Word, Trust. You will find His Easy Street and He will be holding your hand the whole way. Be blessed, the sun will come out tomorrow and the Son is always with you.
