Huff, Puff, Blow up your Raft

Have you ever inflated a raft, floaty, or inner tube for yourself or your children? They do require some huffing and puffing.  The reward is then being able to float down a river, in a pool, or on a lake (I don’t recommend the ocean as the tide can carry you too far before you realize it.) Close your eyes and imagine the feeling of floating.  The water’s movement lulls you into an idyllic restfulness, nirvana, calm, and perhaps even slumber.

Isn’t God wonderful to give us times when inflating or filling yourself is necessary, like filling up on HIM, to be able to share His love?  You must learn of His love and grace to then be able to share it with others.  He also has encouraged us to make time to rest, to float, to empty our minds so His peace can fill us, so we can hear His voice.

Many summers I swam laps in our pool, then floated on my inflatable raft just allowing my mind to empty and find rest.  My spirit and mind always felt renewed with that respite and I thanked God for His peace that filled my floating time. Matthew 11:28 states, “Come to me all you who are weary and I will give you rest.”  Resting is an important component to our health.

If you huff and puff, filling and inflating yourself with the unconditional love of God, then allow yourself to also float into a restful state to hear Him and know His peace.
