Hair, Hair, Glorious Hair

Seeing Victor Mature play the role of Samson on an old version of the movie, Samson and Delilah, I became intrigued by this Biblical story. As a child, hearing about his strength coming from his hair sounded rather far fetched. (To be honest, as a child, I thought this was just a goofy love story). Knowing the story as an adult, the meaning now for me is one of temptation.  God having given Samson, the Israelite, incredible strength, Samson was then able to do mighty feats of power. Delilah beguiled him and tried several times to find the source of his strength. Samson gave her several false replies.  She in turn had the Philistines try to tie him up but Samson was always able to break the ties binding him. She chastised Samson and continued to lure him into finally succumbing to temptation; he told her his hair was his strength. The Philistines shaved his head, gouged his eyes out and his strength gone.

God loves us unconditionally. Do we have temptations bombarding us daily? Of course, we do. Trusting in God’s love and strength, we need not succumb to the world’s luring temptations.  We can stay strong in our faith and not fall into traps. We are reminded in Romans that we can do all things, through Christ, who strengthens us. We are as strong as our faith. May your soul be bald before God, free of guile. Brush through the snarls of temptation, wash away your sins and thank God for His love and forgiveness. Trim away your false sense of pride and curl up in the arms of Jesus, your Savior.

Being in a rather dark place right now, I so yearn to curl up in the arms of Jesus my Savior, I have no strength without HIM. I love this blog, thank you.
