Every Morning is Easter Morning

Many years ago, in a former church choir, we sang an anthem entitled Every Morning is Easter Morning, on the Sunday after Easter. The tune is very upbeat and the words convey a message that can live in your heart and soul.  Published by Hope Publishing in 1972, words and music by Richard Avery and Donald Marah, here is the chorus:

Every morning is Easter morning from now on! Every day’s resurrection day, the past is over and gone!

Paraphrasing the verses: goodbye guilt, goodbye fear, hello Lord…daily news is so bad it seems the good news seldom gets heard…yesterday I was bored and lonely, but today look and see…I am one of the Easter People, God’s in charge spread the word!

Gee, all it took was self-isolation during a pandemic for the words of the anthem to pop back into my head and heart.  Watching an Easter Service from home online, smelling the fragrant Easter lilies made those words from memory pour into my soul.  What wonderful good news!  Every day is Easter morning! We are blessed to know our Lord loves us unconditionally AND He is in charge AND the past is over and gone.

The joy of Easter can be stirred within you every morning. Every day is resurrection day, the past is over and gone.  I thrill to sing these words as I rise each day. I don’t have to wait 364 more days to feel Easter’s joyful news of our Lord’s resurrection.  The light of His glory fills my soul and the tune permeates my being.  Allow the words to resonate with you, YOU are one of the Easter people.  Every morning is Easter morning from now on! He is risen; He is risen indeed, Alleluia!
