Oh, the social-ness in us. We are social beings and I believe created to be so.
My mother’s great aunt and sister invited my mother to share each summer with them. They would buy her school clothes at the end of the summer, but during her stay were daily social etiquette lessons from these two grand dames.
Social Media, like Instagram, Snap Chat, Facebook etc. are as close as our fingertips and used worldwide and by millions. Talk about being in close touch! Wow!
Social distancing is rather new to us. Six feet should, at the time of this current pandemic, be the distance you stay away from others. When you are a hugger like I am, it is like suffering a mild withdrawal, not to give a warm, friendly hug to my friends. Virtual hugs are sent via social media. Yoo-hoos are hollered across the street to neighbors. Snail mail is resurging a little.
As I ponder social-ness, my heart warms at how closely we are able to embrace our dear Lord. Talk about blessings, we are able to be closer than the breath we breathe. He doesn’t worry if we sip our tea slowly or slosh some in our saucer. Sweet Jesus doesn’t connect via social media and He most certainly does not keep six feet away to socially distance Himself. Allow yourself to crawl into His arms and feel the comfort He is offering you. Doesn’t matter if you are in your jammies for the third day in a row, or have your cell phone tucked in your pocket or sniffling with what you hope isn’t Covid-19. He lovingly holds you and takes your cares into His loving arms, loving you unconditionally.
