I grew up in the Lutheran church, always knowing I was a Christian who attended the Lutheran church. I clarify that because I had so many Presbyterian friends, Catholic friends and Methodist friends; we were all Christians just attending different churches with what we considered, minor differences.
At the conclusion to our services, in all these denominations, we sang the Doxology.
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.”
Did I analyze this closure to the service? No. Did I understand or dissect its meaning? Not really. Throw on a lot of extra years and spiritual growth and I found out this Doxology is awesome!
All blessings come from God. He is spiritually above all living beings on earth, and also above the angels in His realm. Let us thank and praise the Triune God of the Universe who loves us unconditionally. WOW! How powerful is that? Omnipotence, a lengthy word meaning, unlimited power, supreme power, almighty-ness, it is often used as an adjective describing God’s greatness.
Unlimited power, that’s Someone I definitely want on my side. Our world at times can definitely seem out of control and spinning in a vortex of scary craziness, your own personal world of thought or the Earth as a whole. Now surround that scenario with UNLIMITED POWER. Scariness flitters away and praise begins. “Praise Him all creatures here below.”
