Come Unto Me

Close your eyes and see the very familiar photo of Jesus reaching out to the little children.  Hum the hymn, “Children of the Heavenly Father.”  Visualize Jesus’ soft voice, smile and His encouraging words for the children to come to Him, our gentle Refuge.

We are told to have faith like a child.  As my eyes open now, I ponder what those welcoming arms would feel like around me. WAIT!  Do you think Jesus said, “No, don’t approach me, you are Jewish, I am only seeking Gentiles.”

“Don’t come near, you are from Ethiopia and your skin is darker than mine.”

“Please, stay back your tendencies to love the same sex as yourself are not wanted here.”

“STOP! Do not come closer your parents’ political views regarding the Romans are too controversial.”

Whew!  Close your eyes again and revisit that picture in your mind.  Jesus’ arms are wide open and ALL accepting. Feel the joy, the peace, the comfort. How blessed are we to know Christ as a loving, caring Savior to ALL His children!  All are welcome. All are accepted.  All can know His comfort. May you feel yourself drawn to His comforting arms and rest knowing He is your Redeemer, Savior, Shield, and loving Refuge. We are ALL…” Children of the Heavenly Father…such a refuge…”
