The Hand of God

Have you ever felt the hand of God in your life?  Have you experienced good luck that was more than just a coincidence?  Has a troubling decision suddenly become clear to you?

An old friend recently reminded me of an incident that occurred when she and I were four years old. The Circus was coming and our mothers had made plans to take us. When the big day arrived, they got together and decided that it was just too hot to go. Seemed a bit strange, given how excited they were.  But, it turned out that was the day of the great Hartford Circus Tent Fire.  It was a massive tragedy, hundreds were burned to death.  Too hot?  I’m convinced the hand of God moved in their decision.

The Bible is filled with examples of the hand of God reaching into the lives of ordinary people.  A leper sits by the road, the road which Jesus will travel on his way from Samaria to Galilee.  Jesus reached out and in that brief encounter, a life was changed forever.  Or think perhaps of the Samaritan woman going about her daily routine of fetching water from the well.  She finds Jesus there, asking her for a drink.  Their encounter also was brief;  her life also was changed from then on.

I’m confident that you too have felt the hand of God in your life.  Our God is an awesome God! To think that the Almighty would reach out His hand to mere mortals like us! It’s a hand of unconditional love and it’s there for us in good times and bad.
