An Expectation of Faith

I read a mediation this morning about faith that I found interesting enough to share with you.  The reading began with an explanation that many of us think of faith as something that we either have a lot or a little of – depending on the situation.  We think of it as a commodity.

However, the lesson went on to note that we must understand “the importance and necessity of maintaining a disposition of expectation towards life.  Only those who have an unfailing faith and trust in the Eternal God can face the future with courage and serenity.”  (Grace for Today February 25).

Hmmmm, I have always thought of faith as something that must be practiced and experienced in order to build that unfailing faith and trust.  Could I be wrong?  Could maintaining an expectation that God will always be there in all aspects of my life be the way.  Do I need to see results in order to believe?  How like Thomas I am.

How I have tested the Eternal God who loves us unconditionally.  Unconditional love is premised on the fact that God will always be there for us.  Love and trust are inseparable.  I am more than ready to face the future with courage and serenity because God has my back and always will.  Amen!

This is why I have a little “reminder” in front of me daily. It says “I can’t handle this. God can. I think I’ll let Him.”
