Sons and Daughters

A couple weeks ago I became aware of National Sons’ Day and National Daughters’ Day.  Ah, the things I learn on Facebook.  Not wanting to neglect my family, I joined in the fun and posted pictures of my sons and daughter along with words of how much they are loved.  I had never heard of such days before, who knows maybe they are an invention of Facebook.

What if God held a National Sons or National Daughters Day?  Whose photo would He post?  What would He say?  The Bible gives us some good clues.  “Once we receive Jesus and trust in Him, He will give us power to be a son or daughter of God.”  John 3:5    “He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.”  Ephesians 1:5

God’s sons and daughters?  You bet we are.  He knew us before we were born.  He calls us by our name.  He is the most faithful of all fathers.  Every moment of every day He loves us with a love that is unconditional.  Awesome!

Reminds me of the Communion Hymn*

Refrain:  Sons of God:  Hear His Holy word,
Gather around the table of the Lord
Eat His body, drink His blood
And we’ll sing a song of love
Allelu, allelu, allelu, alleluia

v. 1  Brothers, sisters we are one,
And our life has just begun
In the spirit we are young
We can live forever.

v. 5  Make the world a unity
Make all men one family
Till we meet The Trinity
And we’ll live forever.

Let’s cherish our place in God’s family and welcome all men/women to this family.  We don’t deserve our place; it’s a precious gift won by our Savior’s love.  Alleluia!
