Do your thoughts ever gallop through your mind to the point that you interject, “hold your horses?” Does the busy-ness of thinking and doing sometime seem like too much? Though it is so very important in life to do your chores, to earn a living, to take care of yourself and others, to diligently check off completed items on your “to do” list, it is equally important to “just chill.”
Seriously, there are some much needed times, you should slow your mind, quiet your thoughts and BE STILL. Prior to pending major surgery, I recalled an awesome song I heard at a Christian Youth Convention I attended. It was one of those songs that permeated my being. A Christian Rock group, Rush of Fools, sang PEACE BE STILL. As a group of 36,000, we sang along while communion was being served. It was powerful. Fast forward to the surgery, I recalled and memorized the words and sang them in my head over and over. That visualization and meditation allowed me to BE STILL and easily know God was in charge and loved me unconditionally.
You do not have to memorize a song. You do not have to be preparing for major surgery, but you do need to stop and BE STILL. Wait for the Lord in the quietness of your mind and soul. Could that be on your own front porch, beside a quiet lake, at the beach, atop a mountain, at your desk, trotting on a gentle horse or anywhere? Yes! As important as getting business done, it’s equally important to peacefully BE STILL and wait on the Lord. It is a necessity to your spirit, like water and food to your body. Peace BE STILL. Stop galloping and speeding through your day. Rein in your thoughts and just “be” in the moment. You will feel Him.
