In the church calendar, the Epiphany season lasts from January 6 to the day before Ash Wednesday. This year that comes to 42 days. We have only nine days left.
Have we experienced an Epiphany this year? Have we had the aha moment; that awesome moment when we personally experienced God’s love? Times are troubling this year. We all feel the stress; we are only human.
Even now God speaks to us. Have you heard a spiritual song performed beautifully and found a tear in your eye. Aha, God was present. Have you prayed fervently and then realized an answer to that prayer. Aha, God was present. Has a loved one called or texted you just when you were feeling down. Aha, God was present.
One day I was taking an elevator in a medical center. I was about to receive the results from medical tests and perhaps my anxiety was more visible than I thought. There was one other gentleman in the elevator. He looked at me and asked if he could pray for me. His prayers were filled with God’s love and reassurance. Was God present? Aha, I think so.
Our God is always present, but it is often in these aha moments that we realize it. Hopefully we can provide Epiphany moments for our loved ones; we can let God speak through us to show love and caring when it is desperately needed. Yes it is God that gives the “Aha”, but we can be his vessel.
