Geologists study fractures in the earth’s crust, fault lines, to determine earth movement and possible earthquakes.
Are there faults, fractures, in your personality make up? I’m trying to think if I have any faults. (that’s a joke, we all have faults and I can name mine, but will choose not to at this time.) Whatever your faults are, is your spouse, best friend, sibling your “fault finder?” Do those closest to you find it necessary to point out the “cracks in your personality?”
We are not sinless. We do have faults and they may show up daily or occasionally but our loving God is not a “fault finder.” He loves us unconditionally. He may allow the ramifications of our faults, those uncomfortable “cracks in our personality,” to occur so that we can learn to smooth the edges. I’m quite certain our Lord want us to learn from our faults and grow in Him. This will be an ongoing matter in our life as we are sinners. The blessing is we are forgiven and can repent. To repent means to turn away from. If you are plagued with a fault or two or three, recognize it and turn from it. Let the lesson of the results of your fault and how the fault affects you and others be a growth spurt in your faith journey.
Being a “fault finder” towards others should not be your occupation, but rather smoothing the fractures in yourself will make you open to God’s grace and forgiveness. Allow Him to polish the smooth edges of your soul and guide you. Emit love, kindness, forgiveness, patience to yourself and others.
Jill
