It’s Me . . . Don’t You Recognize Me?

Matthew 25: 40-43 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

We do not see God Himself, visually standing before us and we are not to make images of Him, but from Matthew we learn that God IS visible in others.  He created us in His image. Do you feed the poor?  Do you help the widow?  Do you donate your time/monies to help others?  Do you reach out to those imprisoned? If the answer to those questions is YES, you have recognized God.

Wherever you are on this journey of life, opportunities are there for you to see the less fortunate.  First, recognize them as a being created in God’s image and He is the light within them.  Then, assist, help, care.  Can you take clothes to a homeless shelter?  Could you pick up food items when you are shopping, BOGOs are great, and donate those food items to a person in need or a facility that feeds hundreds of hungry folks? Are you able to reach out with a donation? Those less fortunate are not “lower” beings but rather a child of our most high God, created in His image and waiting for YOU to open your heart.  Try giving, it feels so good and your light will shine from within.  You will be a blessing for having recognized God and embraced the need you are able to fulfill.

God recognizes you.  See Him.  God loves YOU unconditionally…as He loves ALL of His children.
