Alleluia!

Some things are too wonderful and great to put into words.  Some things must be experienced to be understood and fully appreciated.  Yet, we try to explain the unexplainable and to share these moments because they are too wonderful to be kept secret.  Encounters with God are usually that way.  Imagine the feeling of inadequacy the disciples must have felt when they tried to share their experiences with Jesus and the essence of who he was with others.  So much so, that not one, but four Gospels were written in attempt to put those experiences into words.  (Actually, more accounts were written but these four were included in our Bible.)  I feel that way about what I’m writing today.  Because I don’t have the words to adequately say what I want to, I titled this post “Alleluia!”  Alleluia is defined by google as, “an utterance expressing worship or rejoicing,” or “a song of praise to God.”

Matthew 27:51 reads: “At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”  The temple curtain was a thick, heavy curtain thought to separate people from God’s holy and overwhelming presence.  So, when God tore the veil in two, God was destroying the barrier between God and us.  God is with us always.  We have the gift of God’s presence because God chose to be with us.  There are no words adequate to convey this gift.  So we do the best we can, and we shout and sing praise and thanksgiving.  Alleluia!  Christ is risen.  Alleluia!  God is with us!!  Alleluia!  God is for us!  Alleluia!  God loves us!  Alleluia!!!

Read Matthew 27:49-54, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
