Are We on the Road to Emmaus?

Yes!  We are all on the road to Emmaus every single day that we put our little feet on the floor and begin our journey.

Unlike the two disciples who encountered the risen Christ on this ancient road, we can recognize Christ in everyone we meet along the way.  They recognized Jesus when he broke bread with them.  We have been told that we encounter and aid Christ in everyone we smile at, talk to, extend a helping hand to, feed, clothe or house.  This is instruction from the word of Christ.

It may be a family member asking the same question for the fifth time, it may be the store clerk who is having difficulty finding the price of an item, it may be the tattered man on the side of the road begging for coins or the aggressive driver weaving in and out of traffic.

Sometimes it requires an extra ounce of patience and love to put Christ’s teachings into practice.  To pray for them; to give them a friendly response; to love them, even when they are not lovable.

Is it worth it?  You bet!  The Holy Spirit gives immediate replenishment of the soul for each time you honor the Lord by recognizing Him in your fellow travelers.  God loves all of us unconditionally!  All the time!  Forever and ever!
