I Wanna’ Hold Your Hand – (Beatles)

October 17, 1963, we heard John Lennon’s and Paul McCartney’s song for the Beatles, I Wanna’ Hold Your Hand. Beatles’ songs are fun to sing along to and they also seem to be timeless. Folks can sometimes pinpoint where they were when they heard their songs, who they were with and probably sing the song/verses verbatim. I believe the Word of God is timeless and the BEST resource for living your life. Is it necessary to quote scripture verbatim, maybe not?  More importantly, live your life according to God’s word.

Isaiah 40: 13 Because I, your God, I have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.

What a picture this verse conjures up in my mind!  God is holding my hand firmly, telling me not to panic, AND He won’t let go and will help me.  WOW!  How lucky are we! Our loving God, who loves us unconditionally, has a firm grip on us and will not let go.

The Beatles song may have encouraged hand holding and the emotions of young love, but Isaiah is clearly reminding us that our loving Father is with us for all time.  We need have no fear. During anxious times in my own life, when concerns and worries seemed to overwhelm me, I literally reached my right hand out and remembered Isaiah’s declaration.  God was holding my outstretched hand.  He was not letting go.  God soothed my panic and remained steadfast to help me. Peace.  Comfort.  Relief.  Blessed.  Our Father wants to hold your hand.

Songs may stay with you and bring you memories, but may God’s word stay with you, fill you, comfort you, teach you and hold your hand through life.
