God is Here

One of my professors in my master’s classes was describing an assignment we were to complete and said, “Just use the K.I.S.S. method.”  Ok, that was new to me at that time, years ago, but I quickly learned it meant – Keep It Simple, Stupid!

I am guilty of telling a story and not omitting any details.  For some reason I think all the details are pertinent to what I am sharing. The idea of KISS had me in a quandary regarding how exactly to be brief, yet succinct and still convey the necessary requirements of the assignment.

Assignment done, degree earned, retired and now recently reading some selections regarding Lent.  Among my readings, I came upon a sentence and suggestion that plunked right down into my heart.  (I love when God does that!)  GOD IS HERE.  The reading went on to suggest that the reader use this phrase, often.  Allow yourself to mentally embrace the KISS phrase of GOD IS HERE, anywhere, anytime, any day, for any reason.  Wonderful news!  It works!  I have applied it often throughout my day, for so many reasons and the blessings are powerful.

On a chilly day, I was making homemade vegetable soup, cutting up veggies and PING, God is Here, popped into my mind.  I just smiled and felt His presence.  Looking for a lost receipt, while doing online billing, PING, God is Here, again surfaced and calmness was mine. Texting a friend whose husband is about to undergo surgery, God is Here.

It is such a simplistic phrase and so easily reoccurs in my thinking.  The results are a direct reminder from God to me that He loves me unconditionally, that He is ever present, there are no restrictions for “hours of availability,” and my busy-ness or stillness have no bearing. God is Here. Our Heavenly Father is so loving and holds us so close, He even knows the number of hairs on our head.  We are His and He is Here.  KISS!
