Ok, we don’t really need to resort to that old childish promise chant, but it sure did “seal the promise,” when we used to chorus that to each other.
How easy are promises to keep? Perhaps telling a friend, “I promise, I will be there for you. Call me night or day.” Until that call comes and it is at an inopportune time and the excuses start pouring out and in reality, you are not there for your friend as promised.
Maybe you promised to attend a certain event or function and time got away from you, other “things” popped up and you were unable to attend. Promise broken.
Do you realize that God makes promises? Here’s the good news; He does NOT break His promises. Joshua 21:45 states, “God keeps His Word. Not one of God’s good promises has ever failed, not before the time of Joshua, not after, and not now.”
God’s promises to you are for His strength, support, faithfulness, unconditional love and the list goes on and on. God’s lesson is for you to learn to TRUST Him. You can believe His promises. You can stand on His promise, count on them, hold them in your heart. He is good for His Word. He sacrificed His only Son for YOU. His promises are the real deal. No kids’ game or chant or heart crossing necessary. Learn to trust God and His promises will be fulfilled.
When you begin the journey of strengthening your trust in God and leaning into His promises, you will likely see a difference in your own ability to keep your promises to others. Be a person of your word, by studying His Word. No needles in the eye, just trust and believe. His Word is real!
