My mother was a phenomenal athlete in many different sports. My brother inherited every athletic gene from her and I received zip, nada, none. LOL. Having admitted my lack of athletic prowess, it was traumatizing to wait patiently while team players were chosen, during my school years. I do have a good sense of humor, so even though almost always being chosen last was the norm, my enthusiasm spared most of my embarrassment.
Scriptures tell us we are chosen by God. I Peter 2:9 “I am chosen.” Galatians 1:15 “Before you were born, God chose you and called you by his grace.” II Thes. 2:13 “Beloved God chose you from the beginning.” What a blessing to know this truth! I am chosen by God; I am on His team. I will bear the fruit of His Word and Promises. There was no choose ‘em up selection process that I had to endure. My Lord and Savior chose ME, and He also chose you. What a gift!
More gifts from our Heavenly Father continue. We are chosen AND by his death on the Christ we were healed. Isaiah 53: 5 “ But he was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace; he was lashed—and we were healed!”
We are chosen AND we are given forgiveness for our sins. Grace (unmerited favor) is given to us, too. God loves us unconditionally.
I did not need to wait to be the last chosen, I was chosen from the beginning. The joy I know is a gift from God. Accept His gifts with praise and thanksgiving. Shout Hallelujah, you are His…chosen from the beginning!
