As you read this, I have just come to the end of a grand family reunion. It has been two full years since we were together, so I was thrilled to hug and visit with each of these folks who are so special to me. As a parent and grandparent I welcomed them with open arms.
It made me think of our heavenly Father, ready with open arms to welcome each of us to our heavenly home. If I can be awed by the earthly love of family “coming home,” just how overwhelming it will be when our loving God welcomes us at the gate of heaven with a love that is pure and unconditional. Just the thought of it is more than I can comprehend.
“Welcome Home, My daughter; My child; My son;
Your work on earth has been well done.”
This unconditional love is expressed so beautifully in the painting, Welcome Home My Child, by Danny Hahlbohm.
So rejoice my friends. Rejoice in this day that the Lord has made, and rejoice in the day that is yet to come.
