I should have been writing my weekly blog. However, on my way to my “office” (located in a little shed in the very little yard), I noticed that my even littler garden needed water-badly. How could this be? It’s been raining all week! I checked the soil. It was like desert sand, dry, very dry.
I cannot ignore this fact, even to get the blog written. So, I spent time watering my flowers and the pepper plants, checking for bugs and dead blossoms. Now they are perking up and sharing their glory with the universe.
Has this ever happened to you? You go along thinking that you have been drinking plenty of water, maybe you even carry a water bottle with you. (N.B. the water only helps if you drink it, carrying it does not count.) When, all of a sudden, your tongue is sticking to the roof of your mouth and you can hardly swallow. Water! Please!
Experts say that when you notice that you are thirsty, it is almost too late for your body. It needs to be hydrated continually in order to maintain a healthy metabolism. Of course, you can correct this with lots of water.
I have had this happen in my spiritual life, have you? I think that I am being fully hydrated by my daily living practices but suddenly, I am in a desert. My soul feels barren and lifeless. I need water, the Living Water provided by constant contact with the Source-Jesus Christ.
I had taken too much for granted. I needed to ask and receive the Living Water. God, who loves us unconditionally, will never, I repeat, never refuse to refresh and revive our souls. We need only to ask.
Go ahead-ask! Get ready to share your glory with the world!
Terri
