My folks were not complainers. Rarely do I ever remember my father complaining about aches, pains, and issues as he aged. My dear mother had 1/3 of her heart after a catastrophic heart attack, multiple myeloma, diabetes and yet daily she wakened with a smile and began her devotions before sorting her medications for the day. She was not a complainer either. Well, age has found a way to creep up on my “young-at-heart” being and sometimes there are parts that hurt, ache and take longer to feel strong again. Ugh!
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times; the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.” I love that reading from Scripture. Even though a knee hurts, and a back aches on the outside, everyday God is making new life on the inside! WOW! How wonderful is our loving Father that He continues to mold us and never falters in His attention to our spirit!
Practice giving your attention to the Spirit within and ways to build your faith and outreach to others. Do not allow yourself to cave to the outside issues. Do not focus all your attention on aches and pains, but rather on your Source of all things new inside. God loves us unconditionally and though our earthly bodies age, which sometimes means aches and pains, He is steadfast with His unfolding grace to make a new life within us. Praise Him!
