Giving Thanks

In just six short days we will once again be celebrating Thanksgiving. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Thanksgiving 2020.  In less than seven weeks it will be 2022. Where has the time gone?

In contemplating what I would write my blog about this week, I thought of course I wanted to focus on Thanksgiving or more importantly, giving thanks for all the things in my life and for those who have supported me in this life.  I urge you to do this as well.  It is humbling and gratifying to think of not only your blessings but those who have blessed you with their gifts.

I am thankful for my parents, siblings, husband, children, grandchildren and in-laws who have enriched my life in countless ways and shared their love and support.

I am thankful for my friends who have passed through my life and those who still remain as I have learned something valuable from each and every one of them.

I am thankful for teachers who taught me not only curricular knowledge but life lessons as well.

I am thankful for my former students who taught me patience and perseverance.

I am thankful for all the communities in which I have had the privilege to live, what I have learned from these different cultures and lifestyles and how it has taught me to be more accepting of others.

I am thankful for a successful and fulfilling career that has paid my way.

I am thankful for all the congregations I have been a part of and how they have made me feel at home.  Additionally, I am thankful how each one has given me a special place to worship and learn more about being a Christian throughout the stages of my life so far.

I am thankful for the measure of health I have been given.

Most of all I am thankful for the unconditional love I (we) receive from our Heavenly Father through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord.

What a lot we have to be thankful for.  Count the pieces of good fortune in your life, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be a blessing to others as you have been blessed.
