Can You Believe This?

Four Sundays before Christmas, Advent is celebrated.  Anticipation heightens.  Children eagerly open the little doors on Advent calendars.  The countdown has begun.

Yes, we know our Savior’s birth is going to be celebrated on Christmas.  The Bible story tells us that shepherds came to greet the new babe. Mary and Joseph received visitors from near and far. Eventually the Kings arrived to pay Him homage and they brought important, special gifts to Him.  Myrrh, Frankincense and Gold were presented to Him. Each gift special in meaning and value for the new King sent from Heaven above.

The Christmas season has us shopping for gifts for our family, friends and even those less fortunate than ourselves.  While we are wrapping and preparing gifts, others are likely doing the same for gifts that will be opened by us; but can you believe our sweet baby Jesus arrived bearing gifts for us? The gifts our Lord brought for us were adorned with the Light from above.  They held the warmth of His love and were offered to us as gifts from His heart.  Unconditional LOVE arrived. Salvation for the world arrived.

Let this season of Advent bless you with eagerness and expectancy to reexamine the gifts that were given to each of us.  Feel your anticipation build, knowing that on Christmas Day, you can celebrate again the most humble, beautiful gifts you will ever receive.

Counting down to celebrate again, our gifts from the sweet Babe of Bethlehem, our Savior and Redeemer! Why not celebrate every day?
