Tribute to Joey

A couple weeks ago, we were saddened to learn of the death of one of our much-loved  bloggers, Joey.  Those of us who write and many who read knew him well.  We remember his messages, his faith, his singing, and his smile.  Joey lived his life with MS.  It wasn’t easy, but he didn’t complain.  We send our condolences to his wife, children, and grandchildren – he loved them all dearly.

Our brother in Christ wrote this blog five years ago, expressing his faith so well.  We rejoice that he has now found the bliss of everlasting life with his Savior.   Joey’s was truly a life well lived and we are grateful to have shared a part of it with him.

Count it all Joy

Up at 4 a.m.  with pain from my MS and terrible spasms.  First thoughts are “Oh no not another sleepless night.”  Then I realize I am not alone.  God is with me and comforting me.  And He will lead me to share His Word with others who are going through similar trials.

At these times, I remember that my Jesus suffered extreme pain and mental anguish, certainly more so than I will ever experience.  So, I will count my suffering as Joy.  I know that after my final breath here, I will have everlasting life with God made possible by my Savior.  This is why I do my best to help others who have problems:  physical, mental, financial, marital or otherwise.  I encourage them to turn to God in prayer and to seek the Spirit’s guidance in handling their difficulties.  With His help, they may remain upbeat and joyful.

As Christians we never fight alone, but with the help of our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We have the promise of God that He walks with us no matter what problems we face.

Maranatha,
Joey
