The Ice Man Cometh . . . The Storms of Life

As I wrote this, blizzard conditions were pounding New England with heavy snow, icy roadways, gusty winds, and bitter cold.  It was a time of anxious “ifs.”  If the power goes out – will the pipes burst, will we survive with the heat from the wood stove, will the generator start?  If we need to leave – will the road be plowed, will the car start?   These “ifs” could be life-threatening in the bitter weather.

I watched the storm reports on TV.  I prayed for family and friends who were caught in the middle of this blizzard.  And as I did, it made me think of storms that I’ve gone through.  At times I’ve felt as though I’m standing in the middle of an emotional blizzard.

Have you ever felt this way? Like the folks battered by the icy weather, you may feel assaulted by uncontrollable storms swirling around you – storms of pain, worry, hurt, need, heartache or grief.

If you find yourself overwhelmed today, be encouraged as you seek comfort in God’s Word. Know that you can always find peace and safety in your relationship with Him.

Remember, you are safe with God.  “God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”   Psalm 46:1

Remember, God is in control.  “He calmed the raging storm, and the waves became quiet.”  Psalm 107:29

Remember, God will rescue you.  “The righteous call to the Lord, and He listens; He rescues them from all their troubles.”  Psalm 34:17

Remember, God loves you unconditionally!
