This is a post I received this week. It is very timely and appropriate. This message comes from Pope Francis and it gives all of us something to contemplate as we enter the season of Lent.
Do You Want To Fast?
Fast from hurting words and say kind words.
Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude.
Fast from anger and be filled with patience.
Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.
Fast from worries and have trust in God.
Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity.
Fast from pressures and be prayerful.
Fast from bitterness and fill your hearts with joy.
Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others.
Fast from grudges and be reconciled.
Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.
In the words of Pope Francis
As we read these words, we might think about making them a way to live our lives, not only for Lent but for all of our days. Remember that God loves us unconditionally and this is the way He instructs us to live. We would be a contented people and the world would be a more joyful place to live if we followed this message. Thanks be to God!
