Try for at Least a Piece of Peace

What do I like about yoga? This list could be lengthy, but in a nutshell, I like the peace that I breathe.

“Let them seek peace and pursue it.  For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous.” – 1 Peter 3: 11-12

Cat, cow, warrior pose, tree pose, all yoga moves/postures that work on strength and balance and mindfulness, find me smiling as I breathe deeply and think about my breath. The instructor will say, “Breathe 1, 2, 3, 4 and send your breathe to your heart (knee, back, stomach etc).” As I hear the direction, I choose to visualize my breath as God.  I am inhaling His presence and allowing Him to fill me.  In my mind, I see the vapor of my inward breath traveling through my body, touching, healing, and fine-tuning me to His will. This quiet time of visualization and attempt at keeping my mind from wandering, brings me peace

“The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. “Isaiah 32: 17

I do know from baptism, the Holy Spirit resides in me, but using yoga as a tool for quieting my mind, has given me another tool to make God’s presence real.  Do you need to take a yoga class to center your mind on God? Not necessarily, but quieting your thoughts so you can feel His presence, is powerful.  “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

Our Heavenly Father loves each of us unconditionally, so try for a piece of peacePeace is a choice. Seek it.  Strive to find it through any way you choose, it is your choice. If you see me in a tree pose, yoga position, you know my mission is choosing peace. Be a blessing to others.
