Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good

Don Williams, an award-winning country singer, renowned for his ballads, had a number 1 hit in 1981 with Lord, I Hope This Day is Good.

Lord, I hope this day is good
I’m feelin’ empty and misunderstood
I should be thankful, Lord, I know I should
But Lord I hope this day is good

Have you ever felt empty? Have you ever been misunderstood? Both of these situations can create a “woe is me” feeling inside of you.  Empty: containing nothing, not filled, lacking meaning. Misunderstood: incorrectly interpreted.

When these dilemmas occur in your life, the lyrics to Don’s song applies:  your hope is in the Lord.

David had that hope.  Many of his psalms pleaded to God, knowing God was where his hope and answers could be found. To have hope means having a feeling of trust and expectation. This is not the first time our world has been in turmoil with war, famine, pandemics, price increases, stock markets plunging and world leaders who have lost their way.  We, like David, and like Don Williams’ lyrics can have our hope in our Lord who loves us unconditionally.  God is in charge.  Our trust can unequivocally rest on Him.  Jesus asks us to lean on Him. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. John 14:6.

Feelin’ empty and misunderstood? Place your hope in our dear Heavenly Father. Lord, I hope this day is good!
