A Mother’s Prayer

Holy Week ends on such a “high” with our Lord’s resurrection and Easter Glory! However, I do think often about Mary, Jesus’ mother.  She had to watch His suffering and death.  Yes, I have witnessed death of precious loved ones, but not my children’s demise.  I thank God daily they are still here and a rich blessing in my life. Many of you have lost a child, a pain I cannot fathom. Anguish. Tribulation. Anger. Were you even able to pray? The Holy Spirit knew your heartbreak.

The Holy Scriptures mention Hannah, Sarah, Elizabeth and others who are pleading with God to allow them to become a mother. It is a precious gift and a BIG job, motherhood.  Speaking personally, I absolutely could not have mothered my boys without God holding my hand daily! The prayers I sent were sometimes hourly.

Every Sunday is Easter Sunday as we worship and acknowledge Jesus’ resurrection.  He is risen! His unconditional love for us, is among the many gifts bestowed to us. I truly consider my boys to be gifts loaned to me from God.  They are His and He allowed me to be their mother.  Mary must have been confused, frightened, honored and filled with a gambit of emotions knowing she was to become a mother to our Lord. I feel quite certain, many times her prayers were hourly also.

May the rich reminders of Easter, knowing we worship a risen Savior, bring you joy, bathe you in His comfort and fill your heart with His love and compassion.

Honor your mother or the memory of your mother.  They are treasures given by God.  Forgive them their shortcomings and know God is always with you through this journey called life.
