Like the Wind

We experience the wind in so many ways:  the howling wind of a blizzard, the light summer breeze, the overpowering fierceness of a tornado, the rustle of wind through the trees, the whistle of wind through the window.  The wind is a natural part of our environment.  We cannot see it, but we can see the effect it has on the world around us.

In John 3:8, we read, “The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”  Like the wind, the Spirit is invisible.  A person cannot see it move or work.  However, one can see the effect of what the Spirit does.  One can see how it acts on things – just as the wind going through a tree full of leaves.  Just as we feel the wind, we can feel the presence of the Spirit.

Sometimes we need just a gentle breath of the Spirit.  Sometimes we need a full-blown gust to get our attention.  This is the message of the following song, music and text by Heather Schopf, recorded in 2015.

Hope you enjoy it.
