If we were in Canada today, we’d be celebrating Victoria Day. As this holiday rolls around, Canadians have been through a long, snowy, gray winter. Now the trees are turning green, and the chill gives way to warmer breezes. Time to go for that first swim and enjoy a holiday summer feast!
Perhaps you are a former northerner who can identify with that. Perhaps not. Either way, the end of May in Florida most likely signals love bugs and that hot humid season we call summer. We’ve enjoyed the outdoors all winter; now it’s time to hunker down in the air-conditioning.
Seasons vary around the world. In which hemisphere do you live? How far from the equator? The seasons of our lives are also unique. We experience them as they come, each a God-given time of our life.
The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” It also tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He hath made everything beautiful in his time.”
Thinking back, I remember summers of carefree childhood, seasons filled with the ups and downs of adolescence. There was the emotional season of first love. After that the seasons came rolling in one after another. There was joy and happiness, but there was also loss, pain and grief. In each season we learned, we grew. In each season God was with us.
I don’t know what season of your life you are in right now. I do know that God is with you with his unconditional love. I do know that he promised to make everything beautiful in his time. Trust Him!
