Headline: “Nineteen children and two teachers killed in Uvalde, Texas shooting.” I admit, that as I write these words I am still overwhelmed and angry that another shooter has taken the lives of children and teachers in an elementary school. If my words sound harsh, it is because my feelings on this are still raw.
I understand that here among our Christian family, there are many opinions regarding the right and the wrong of our country’s actions. I accept that. I have no inclination to address the politics of the situation. But, I am sure we can all agree that the slaughter of innocent children in school is horrendous. Each innocent child went to school that morning. Each never came home.
Weep, be discouraged, be angry . . . but then do something. Don’t let your thoughts and words be empty ones. Support a worthy cause that addresses the issue. Pray hard for the teachers who must enter their classrooms each day to face questions that are unanswerable. Pray hard that our nation may truly value the lives of our children. Take a hard look at the stands held by our elected officials and use your vote to bring into office those who will take this issue seriously. Pray for an answer.
Whatever the answer may be, pray hard that we will stand up and be counted. How many children must die? Jesus loves these little ones and he asks that we do the same.

“And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.” Mark 10:13-16
Horror is difficult to apply our faith to. May God continue to help us all. Thanks for sharing.
