When I had my boys, the big realization of change was in front of my eyes. Every single day, during the first year of their life, they changed. A giggle, a smile, momma, dada, rolling over, sitting up, crawling, eating solid foods, sleeping through the night, walking and so much more, all in one year! Truly, it seemed like every single day of the first year, something new happened and they were changing and growing. Of course, I do understand we all change, but their little changes were so cute and fun to observe and immediately logged into their baby books.
Think for a minute about ALL the changes in your own life. No matter what your current age, you have changed daily, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I was at the beach, just running my fingers and toes through the sand and watching the sand spill back, such tiny grains. Over and over, I sifted through them, studying the grains that seemed to never land in the same place twice. Every sift was so completely different.
What popped into my mind was, Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We change, our children change, the grains of sand sifting through my fingers and toes change, the world changes, but our dear Savior, Jesus Christ never changes. His unconditional love will not fluctuate with your sins. Our world does not operate with that truth. Your friends may change. Your family dynamics may change. Your spouse may change. You may change. Most certainly the world around you changes constantly. How blessed are we to know that Jesus is the same, always and forever? Never changing. Allow that truth to sift through your thoughts and find a home in your heart. May you find strength and comfort in Him.
