The word “philosophy” comes from the Greek and means the love of wisdom. This being said, while “wisdom” has its place in a disciplined life, we should not rely too heavily on one’s wisdom. If we reverse the love of wisdom, it becomes the wisdom of love and that is a far better way to live our lives using love as our guide. In almost every aspect of our lives, if love is our model we will succeed. Hatred, anger and animosity frequently lead to bad outcomes for those who carry those burdens and to those on which they are inflicted. Love will usually bring happiness to yourself and those around you. The wisdom of love is maybe the highest and most complete wisdom of all.
We have a perfect example to follow in our lives. God’s love is so wonderful, there is nothing in this world that can compare. In our human nature, we can obviously only understand human love which is temporary and conditional. God’s love is everlasting. It reaches beyond this life and into eternity. He loves you no matter what you have done. Once you have accepted His gift of salvation, your past is forgotten.
It is impossible to really love others this way unless we first love God. He is the source of our love and we must be connected to Him so we can try to love the way He loves. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19.
In Philippians 4:7 we are given this wonderful promise. The peace of God, which passes all human understanding will guard your hearts and you minds in Christ Jesus.
That “peace” is His love. An inner calm will dominate your heart because of God’s unconditional love. Thanks be to God.
