Written in 1954 by Bob Merrill, a song Jimmie Rodgers made popular in 1957 was HONEYCOMB. (First Stanza)
Well it’s a darn good life
And it’s kinda funny
How the Lord made the bee
And the bee made the honey
And the honeybee lookin’ for a home
And they called it honeycomb
Proverbs 16:24 “Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” The words you speak to yourself are as important as the words you speak aloud to others. Why? What you say to yourself, or tell yourself MATTERS. Your words are heard by your ears and enter your being finding their way into your heart. That’s the way we are wired. If your self-talk is “out of whack,” disjointed and aligned with doubt, worry, self-pity, stress and fear, your body will respond accordingly. You will begin to feel yourself “out of sorts.”
Pleasant words, on the other hand, will find their way to your heart and nestle in like bees in a honeycomb and you will thrive. Your body, mind and spirit will rightfully align and center themselves with our Great Physician, Jesus! Every cell will respond to your sweet positivity and His unconditional love for you.
It’s easy for us to falter and slip into a phase of negativity, but be strong in the Lord and speak to yourself about health, kindness, love, peace, comfort, and joy. Your spiritual self will “hear” your pleasant words and begin to react to the honey being poured into your soul. How sweet it is!
