“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in harmony!” Psalm 133:1
As I searched, exploring the word HARMONY, I was delighted to find a thesaurus loaded with synonyms: balance, cooperation, kinship, accord and so many more. I sing in three different choral groups and trust me, harmony is so important, and discord is so noticeable, thus plenty of rehearsals. The harmonious result is hopefully, pleasing to the ear and soul.
This Psalm is telling us it is good when we live together, harmoniously. Sadly, right now, the world’s efforts are not working out so well! Out of sorts, off key, discordance, and no unity. Our world is struggling for balance, cooperation or harmony that would please God. He knows our shortcomings, our stubborn tendencies and the evil that penetrates His world. What can you or I do to balance the unbalance, to cooperate, to find commonalities, to rehearse and rehearse harmony? It begins with each one of us. The third stanza of I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing:
I’d like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
With God’s unconditional love supporting us and His everlasting arms under us, we can do this! Each of us find the balance and unity with others. Seek accord and kinship through listening for the harmony. By your example, Teach the World to Sing…in unity, harmony and balance.
