Psalm 118:24-25 “Thank you for responding to me; you’ve truly become my salvation! The stone the masons discarded as flawed is now the capstone! This is God’s work. We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it! This is the very day God acted — let’s celebrate and be festive! Salvation now, God. Salvation now! Oh yes, God—a free and full life!”
The capstone is the very top stone of an arch. Without it, properly placed, the arch would not stand on its own. Those who were writing this psalm were obviously struggling with some issue and pleading for God’s salvation and help. How wonderful, that knowing Jesus as our “capstone,” we cannot fail. We will have His strength to endure the trials of this life on earth. Let us rejoice in Him daily. At each sunrise, He has prepared a day for you. May your first thought be of Him, praising and thanking Him for a new day. Rub your eyes, open them and be awed that your God has made a new day for you. Yesterday is over. Tomorrow is not here. With our dear Lord as the capstone to the arch of your life…beginning to end, you will have His strength to guide you and sustain you through the uneven path of your earthly journey. God’s unconditional love, your trust, thanksgiving and praise will mean His strength and grace will be your power! Rejoice in it!
