I know that my Florida friends will groan when they see this headline. The weather in the south is still sultry and hot. While here in New England, Fall is approaching and is a welcomed change to the record heat of this summer. Last night was a two-blanket sleep.
For us here on the lake, the changes are obvious and unavoidable. Our cottage sits on the edge of the lake. We have a front row seat to the signs of weather change. Yesterday, we watched a rainstorm travel all the way from the mountains of New York across Lake Champlain bringing strong winds and rain. I must admit that it is fascinating to observe.
We also have the return of the Canadian Geese. It seems like they just left and now they are back. This bay is a stopping spot for a food fill up. Geese too numerous to count stop for a snack on their way south. I enjoy watching them and their different forms of communicating, but they are very noisy especially at 3 o’clock in the morning.
Then, there are the leaves. Such a wondrous phenomenon-the Autumn leaves! Scientist still study this change, not able to determine specifically what causes the brilliant colors which grace the northern hillsides in the Fall. It might be rainfall or lack of it, maybe it’s hot or cold summer weather. God knows about all these phenomena, and we want to know. So, we seek.
