How enticing is the smell of bread right out of the oven? Yum! I make a beer and honey bread that creates an incredibly delicious scent that permeates the entire house.
Matthew 4:4 states, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” John 6:63 states, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life, meaning eternal life.”
The story of Mary and Martha comes to mind. They were Lazarus’s sisters. Jesus visits their home and Martha is worrying over the preparations for all this visit may entail. (I am guilty of unnecessary dusting, vacuuming, double checking lists for needed food items, preparing and rechecking, I would much rather have Mary’s demeanor.) Mary in this story chose to listen to Jesus’ teaching and did not actively help her sister. The important lesson is that “food” was not the center of attention for the day, but instead what Jesus had to say. Yes, my beer bread is enticing and delicious, but sharing the unconditional love of God and His Words for LIFE may lead to someone’s salvation and eternal life. No need to worry and fret, but rather rest in His peace and perhaps while you are sharing your bread, cookies, meals with others; take the time to do your most important deed and LISTEN to them and share the GOOD NEWS. No fretting and worrying allowed.

You had me at fresh baked bread! That’s why realtors have a loaf baking while showing a house. I’m sold on the rest of your message too! Yum!
