When you say ROBES, what do you think of? If you are thinking of the Bible, perhaps you thought of Joseph and his coat of many colors. It must have been beautiful to see. The Broadway musical certainly gave us a colorful portrayal of Joseph’s robe to admire in the play.
I will confess to at one time (for many years) having what became known as the “ratty robe” because it was so old, a little tattered, missing a button and I loved it. It was so cozy and comfortable.
Nicer hotels will have guest robes provided in your room and they are expensive, thick and luxurious, provided free during your stay but not meant to be packed and taken home, haha.
Thinking of queens and kings and the royal robes they are required to wear, somehow does not give me the same feeling. The gorgeous satins and silks, gems and lace, don’t give me the warm “fuzzy” of comfort and ease.
I just read my morning devotional and it included an example of Jesus providing a robe of comfort for you. He suffered a horrific death on the cross for us. His unconditional love, grace and mercy can envelope us like a warm robe. There is such comfort being nestled into a warm, fuzzy robe. Allow yourself to have that same feeling with the robe of Christ enveloping you in His love, peace, and truth. Wrap yourself in God’s love and comfort and study His word. Share the Good News of Him. Tell others how to find the feeling of strength, relief, and ease in knowing our Lord and wearing His robe of comfort.
