Are you aware how tiny mustard seeds really are? I knew they were quite small, but I did not know they came in several colors. They can be yellow, black or brown. I had been given a necklace as a child that had a mustard seed encapsulated in a little pendant. I’ve since given this to my granddaughter.
I’m not a fan of mustard (I’m a ketchup on my hot dog person and definitely do not want it on my yummy warm soft pretzel….I can hear people gasping, lol). But the mustard seeds were in ancient times used for healing and are known today for their many healing properties, as well as, food enhancers. Some cultures use mustard seeds daily in their cooking, enriching their meals with its flavor.
Jesus encouraging words to the disciples said, (Matthew 17:20) “Because you’re not yet taking God seriously,” said Jesus. “The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a mustard seed, say, you would tell this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn’t be able to tackle.”
Hey, I just love that! There is nothing that I cannot tackle, if I have just a teeny tiny bit of faith. The seed is so small and the strength so BIG! I’m imagining what it would be like if the world would believe like this. Just a fraction of faith and mountains could be moved! No, I will not eat mustard on my hotdog or soft pretzel, but I most definitely will nurture my small seed faith into even bigger faith and pray mountains are moved! Maybe you should try it! His unconditional love for each of His children is HUGE.
