Remind Yourself to be Thankful

This is a recent message I received from a Facebook friend.  I thought it was cute and ended with a wonderful message for all of us. The author is unknown.

When I woke up this morning, I asked myself, “What is life about?”

I found the answers in my room.

The fan said, “Be cool”.

The roof said, “Aim high”.

The window said, “See the world”.

The clock said, “Every minute is precious”.

The mirror said, “Reflect before you act”.

The calendar said, “Be up to date”.

The door said, “Push hard for your goals”.

The floor said, “Kneel down and pray and be thankful for what you have”.

While the first few are clever and snappy, the last one is the one that resonates with me and something I need to do more often. I have been given so much and don’t always take the time to thank God for all I have.  I need to remind myself everyday to be thankful for God’s unconditional love, not for my earthly gifts but for the greatest gift of all…Eternal Life through Jesus Christ!

In Colossians 4:2 we read these simple words that speak volumes. Devote yourselves to prayer, be watchful and thankful.

Thanks be to God!

Patty
