The Magi

Who were the magi?  Magi is a transliteration of magus a word in Greek, that refers to the Three Wise Men or the Three Kings. From what I have read there is no concrete evidence there were only three kings, but the assumption is three gifts = three kings.  Not sure the number really matters. What I do believe is they had waited their lifetimes for a Messiah to come.  Following a magnificent star in the east, hoping it would lead them to their long-awaited Messiah, the journey began.  The ADVENT of their journey is worthy of our reflection during this Advent season.

Many of us are life-long Christians, but others are new to this belief.  Wherever you are on your faith journey, the season of Advent gives us a reflective time to review our faith, to renew our faith, to grow our faith as we anticipate the celebration of Jesus’s birth. I think the Magi, perhaps, wondered if they would ever meet their Messiah.  The prophets for ages had predicted this advent (long anticipated arrival of a notable person, thing or event), but would they be alive to see it first-hand.

The Advent Season is part of our liturgical church calendar so we as Christians, have a set aside time to look inside ourselves.  Are we eager to renew our relationship with Christ?  Are we looking for a stronger relationship?  Do we long to know Him?  Are we anxious to praise the celebration of His arrival and share the Good News with others?  This Advent, allow yourself to wander inside your soul, as the Magi wandered following the Star.  Wander inside and see what gifts you will be bringing to the Lord who loves you unconditionally. Anticipate His birth celebration.
