Merry Christmas

We have eagerly anticipated during this Advent season, the celebration of our Savior’s birth.  The day has arrived.  Christmas is here.  Many are familiar with the nativity story.  The young parents charged with bringing God’s only son to life, the humble stall of His birth, the shepherds and their flocks, and the visitors from the east.  But why did He come?  Why do we celebrate His birth? He came to save us.  What an unbelievable “gift” to have this Christmas!  A day set aside to unwrap again, the significance of this sweet baby boy, Emmanuel, Jesus, Savior of the World.

He was an infant “bundle” delivered by Mary, raised by Joseph, given to bring us unconditional love.  The “wrappings” were humble, the “tag” attached was simple, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you peace.” “Follow Me.”  “Trust Me.” The “bow”, of course, was the star shining brightly, leading followers to the newborn Prince of Peace.

We cannot “shop” and find such a precious gift in a catalog or mall or online, but yet our loving Lord is in fact available to us anywhere, any time and will never leave or forsake us.

May your Christmas celebration have you remembering Emmanuel, our Savior and begin to unwrap over and over again, the wonder of His love.  Be mindful asking for His forgiveness.  Be attentive to His Word.  Share this Christmas gift with others.  Let them know your story about Him and show them how they too can receive this Wonder of Wonders.  Merry Christmas.  God has blessed us each with the BEST gift of all.
