Patiently Waiting . . . or Not

Will I ever graduate from high school?  Eeeks, egads, 6 more years of this! Or perhaps, you remember waiting for the birth of a child, or for a serviceman to finish his/her tour and finally be home with the family.  Sometimes our anticipation even reaches the point of NO PATIENCE.

Epiphany comes from the Greek epiphaneia, meaning “appearance” or “manifestation,” and refers to the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the world.  Rewind through the generations prior to Jesus’ s birth and the prophecies being shared around a table, in conversation on a walking path, or chatting in a market place.  The word spread and people knew to expect the Messiah. Was patience wearing thin?  They had heard this prophetic dream of hope generation after generation and up to this point, no Messiah.  Hundreds and hundreds of years pass and the expectancy message continued to be shared. Can you even imagine the strain on people’s patience?  Will the Messiah ever come?  Will it be in my lifetime or my children’s lifetime? WHEN ? Read Matthew 2:1-12.  The Wise Men saw the star in the East, heard about the birth of a Messiah. Approached King Herod with the news and were directed to go to Bethlehem to see if the news was indeed true.

Blessed are we to know the story from God’s Word, and now be waiting and eagerly expecting The Second Coming of Christ.  How patient can be we be?  Keep your mind filled with the joy of expectancy. Be patient.  God’s timing is perfect and His love is unconditional.
