I will share that sometimes when reading Genesis or similar Books of the Bible, or Biblical texts that go on ad infinitum about genealogical lines and who is related to whom, I skim or move on to another chapter. Some of the Biblical names are so similar and then sorted into tribes, or family lines I struggle to decipher. I am; however, interested in my personal genealogy and avidly have been building my “tree” on Ancestry. Finding a Lutheran pastor (1800) on my mother’s side of the family and our Mayflower/pilgrim heritage (1620) on my dad’s side was all very interesting.
Matthew and Luke, both give us the lineage of Jesus. Matthew beginning with Abraham and Luke begins with Adam. Those are easier to follow and give us our Savior’s “human” genealogy. I’ve read that some genealogists give credence to the suggestion that we really are all related.
I am not an expert in Biblical genealogy or even my own family tree, but what I am most certain of is that I am a child of God, Royal blood flows through my veins as I am His. He loves me unconditionally and forgives me of my sins. He sent His only Son to die for me and if I believe in Him, I will have everlasting life.
Finding my roots, discovery the names and occupations of ancestors, the military enrollees, the crusade marchers, the teachers, preachers, organizers is fun, BUT knowing in my heart that God sent His only Son for me and I am HIS, is the greatest gift I’ll ever know. You, too, can trace your heritage, seek God, your Heavenly Father. Receive His gift of unconditional love. Be blessed!
